Amir Mohammad Khalighi, a student at Tehran University, was attacked by robbers on his way back to the dormitory on the evening of February 13, 2025, and lost his life. This tragic incident not only changed his life but also fundamentally altered the lives of his family. With the arrest of the suspects and the issuance of a retribution sentence for the main suspect, Ahmadreza, Amir Mohammad's family decided to forgive the right to retribution. However, this forgiveness was conditional on certain terms that have not yet been fulfilled.
Conditions of Amir Mohammad's family
In exchange for forgiving the retribution, Amir Mohammad's family set forth four conditions, which included the construction of a sports hall in their hometown, pursuing the establishment of a school named after Amir Mohammad, naming a space at Tehran University, and naming a street where the incident occurred. Mohammad Amin Khalighi, Amir Mohammad's brother, stated that one of the main conditions is the construction of a sports hall in the village of "Darmian"; a village that, according to him, lacks such facilities and is far from the county center.

Unfulfilled promises
Mohammad Amin Khalighi has stated that access to sports facilities for young people can be effective in preventing social harms, but so far no action has been taken to start the construction of the hall. He also mentioned that Ahmadreza's family was supposed to pay an amount for this project, but this amount has not reached them either.
Additionally, other promises were made for the construction of a school named after Amir Mohammad and an educational complex in the provincial center, which are still in administrative stages and have not been realized. Furthermore, officials at Tehran University had promised to allocate a space in the name of Amir Mohammad, but this promise has also not materialized. Amir Mohammad's brother said in this regard: "These promises, although made at the time of the incident, seem not to have been taken seriously in practice."
Security situation at the incident location
Mohammad Amin Khalighi explained the security situation of the street where his brother was murdered, stating that this area had witnessed multiple robberies before the incident. After this incident, measures such as installing surveillance cameras and a police kiosk were taken, but according to him, if these measures had been implemented before the incident, it might have prevented this tragedy.
Ultimately, the family of Amir Mohammad Khalighi forgave the right to retribution, but now they are concerned about the unfulfilled promises made by the officials. These promises not only commemorate Amir Mohammad but also aim to improve the social and security situation for the youth of their village, and the Khalighi family hopes that the officials will fulfill their promises.
