Jake Sullivan, former National Security Advisor of the United States, discussed the influence of the Israeli regime on Donald Trump's administration and the consequences of wars against Iran at a meeting at Harvard University's Department of Political Science. He stated that the wars initiated during Trump's presidency must come to an end, and this will impact the relationship between the United States and Israel.
Divergence of American and Israeli Interests
Sullivan stated: "I believe these wars must end, and what the war in Iran has particularly revealed is the divergence of Israeli interests from those of the United States." He referred to statements made by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who calls for an eternal war with Iran, asserting that these wars matter to the American people, while Netanyahu pays no attention to this issue.

Consequences of War on the Lives of the American People
Sullivan pointed to the economic and geopolitical consequences of the war against Iran, stating: "This war has regressed our ability to threaten the Strait of Hormuz and our bases in the region." He also mentioned the negative impacts of this war on the domestic economy of the United States and the rising costs for households, saying: "People are paying more out of their pockets because of this war, which has no verifiable achievements."
Sullivan's remarks come at a time when Trump's elective war has led to rising fuel prices and household costs for American citizens, becoming one of the challenges for the Republican Party ahead of the midterm elections. According to polls, Trump's popularity has reached its lowest point.
Sullivan also referred to the Trump administration's confrontational approach to Iran's nuclear program, stating: "The only way to create a verifiable barrier on Iran's path to a nuclear weapon is through an agreement." He emphasized that bombing Iran's nuclear facilities ultimately only delays its nuclear program and is not a sustainable solution.
In conclusion, Sullivan referred to Trump's unilateral withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear agreement, adding: "This action not only increased tensions but also failed to yield a better agreement afterward."
