Abdolfaazl Vahedi, the Deputy Minister of Education at the Ministry of Science, in his latest statements, announced a 60% increase in the number of conditional students after returning to in-person education. This news comes as universities will officially begin their in-person education on October 4.
Learning Challenges During the Pandemic
Vahedi stated that the return to in-person education is essential due to the negative impacts of the pandemic, explaining that part of the increase in conditional students is related to exams and another part is due to the type of interaction between students and professors. He emphasized that the depth of learning during this period has been compromised, which requires special attention.

Emphasis on the Quality of In-Person Education
The Deputy Minister of Education stated: "Our first action is to return to the quality of in-person education. We also cannot forget about virtual education, as new technologies have provided new opportunities that we must take advantage of."
He also referred to a regulation that allows up to 25% of education to be delivered virtually, which has been granted to universities. However, he emphasized the necessity of starting in-person education from October 4 and mentioned that throughout the academic year, virtual education will also be utilized with the necessary arrangements.
New Measures for Students and Professors
Vahedi continued: "We have planned actions for students and professors and have anticipated training courses. Platforms for conveying concepts have also been prepared, and course revisions have been carried out. These actions are particularly designed for new students and virtual students."
The Deputy Minister of Education also announced that this year, with the announcement of the doctoral exam results, 14,000 new students have joined the student body. This increase in the number of students may exacerbate existing challenges in the educational system and requires more precise planning to manage these changes.
Finally, Vahedi emphasized the importance of the quality of education and constructive interaction between professors and students, stating: "We must act in a way that students have the best experience in in-person educational environments and can benefit from deeper learning."
