Majid Parsa, the Director General of Education in Tehran, reported on the enrollment status of foreign students in the schools of this city, stating that less than 30,000 foreign students have enrolled this year. In previous years, the number of these students reached about 60,000, indicating a 50% decrease in this population.

Mandatory Enrollment for Compulsory Education Students

Parsa emphasized that students who have previously studied in Tehran schools and are currently present in Iran are required to enroll, referring to the Ministry of Education's circular regarding compulsory education students and those who have the necessary documents. He added: "School principals and education districts have well understood this issue, and for the enrollment of new foreign students, it is necessary to obtain the hologram and required documents from the Ministry of Interior."

Impact of Decrease in Student Population on Class Density

The Director General of Education in Tehran also referred to the impact of the decrease in the population of foreign students on class density, stating: "In the past two years, about 30,000 foreign students have been reduced from our student population, and this has had a minimal average impact on class density. My estimate is that its effect in each classroom has been less than one student."

He also mentioned the activities of charitable schools that provide educational services to working children, saying: "We have tried to provide public spaces to these organizations so they can continue their activities." Parsa emphasized that licensed schools operate under the supervision of the Ministry of Education and stressed that informal schools or 'homeschools' are illegal according to the Ministry of Education.

In conclusion, the Director General of Education in Tehran said: "Given the Minister of Education's emphasis on special support for charitable schools, we are obliged to assist these schools so they can provide their educational and training services to students."
