Zahra Shams Ehsan, at the 437th session of the Tehran City Council, emphasized the importance of comprehensive cooperation among municipal units for the implementation of the child-friendly city resolution. She stated that children's rights must be recognized in the city and expressed hope that with the participation of the council and municipality, necessary actions will be taken to address children's affairs.
The necessity of evaluating the status of the child-friendly city resolution
Shams Ehsan, referring to Children's Week, considered this occasion a suitable opportunity to evaluate the status of the child-friendly city resolution and asked: "What path is this resolution currently taking, and where do we stand on this path?" She pointed to the role of the General Directorate of Citizen Education in implementing this resolution and stated that although this directorate has performed positively in the hardware and educational and cultural programs, it cannot implement all actions alone.

Existing challenges in making the city suitable
The head of the Social Committee of the Tehran City Council emphasized the necessity of making the city suitable for children, noting that despite valuable efforts made, problems still exist. For example, the slope of sidewalks in some areas is inappropriate, and the adapted surfaces in the city are unsatisfactory to citizens.
Shams Ehsan also pointed to the need to announce the number of mother and child rooms across the city and said: "Some elevators at metro stations are still not operational, and these issues indicate that the necessary infrastructure to support children and the elderly is insufficient." She emphasized the importance of reviewing the budget status and policies related to families and requested the municipality to provide a report on the status of sidewalk adaptations.
Providing necessary infrastructure for mothers and children
Shams Ehsan, considering the importance of improving the living conditions of mothers and children, requested the municipality to specify policies related to this group in the budget bill and present them in a separate section. She also called for a report on actions taken in this area and emphasized that the share of each institution and organization in these actions should be clarified.
Given the current conditions and the increasing needs of children and mothers, cooperation and collaboration between the council and municipality is of special importance. Shams Ehsan expressed hope that this cooperation could lead to improved living conditions for children in Tehran and called for serious attention to this issue.
