Younes Emami, the Iranian freestyle wrestling champion, recently won the gold medal in the 74 kg category at the Nagoya Asian Games. Meanwhile, the final of the 74 kg freestyle wrestling world championship hosted by Kazakhstan was held between Inalbek Sheriyev from Russia and Kaipnov from Kazakhstan. Both of these wrestlers had tasted defeat against Younes Emami in previous competitions.

Past Defeats and New Victories

Inalbek Sheriyev was defeated by Younes Emami about 4 months ago at the Albania ranking competitions, and Kaipnov also lost to the Iranian wrestler at the Nagoya Asian Games. These defeats highlight Younes Emami's dominance over his competitors in this weight class. On his path to victory at the Asian Games, he first defeated Jamalov, the world and Olympic champion from Uzbekistan, and then advanced to the final by winning against Kaipnov.

Other Achievements of Iranian Wrestlers

In the world championships, Iran had another representative named Amir Mohammad Yazdani, who secured the bronze medal by winning in the ranking match. After a round of rest, Yazdani first defeated Kurmagomedov from Hungary and then advanced to the next stage by winning 15-11 against Cuban Garzon. He lost to Inalbek Sheriyev in the semifinals, but with Sheriyev reaching the final, he entered the repechage bracket and ultimately succeeded in winning the bronze medal.

Interestingly, Salkazanov, Yazdani's opponent in the ranking match, is also one of the wrestlers who has competed against Younes Emami in the past and has been defeated by him several times. Given the results of these two events, Younes Emami as the champion of the Asian Games and Amir Mohammad Yazdani as the world bronze medalist have been worthy representatives for Iranian wrestling on the international stage.

These results came at a time when the wrestling federation decided to use two different lineups due to the proximity of the world championship and the Asian Games. Younes Emami represented Iran at the Asian Games, while Amir Mohammad Yazdani competed in the world championships, each bringing great honors to Iranian wrestling as champions in this weight class.
