America has been introduced as one of the hosts for two major wrestling events in 2027. According to the schedule announced by the United World Wrestling, this country, along with Zagreb, Croatia, and Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, will host the ranking competitions. The first ranking competition will be held from February 1 to 7, 2027 (12 to 18 Bahman 1405) in Zagreb, and the second event will take place from May 31 to June 6, 2027 (10 to 16 Khordad 1406) in Coralville, America.
Visa Issuance Challenges for Iranian Wrestling
The selection of America as the host for the second ranking competition is not just a sports issue for Iranian wrestling; it also comes with specific challenges such as visa issuance for Iranian sports teams. In recent years, obtaining visas for wrestling teams to participate in America has always been fraught with difficulties. For example, during the U23 World Championships in Las Vegas, the visas for the members of the Iranian wrestling team were issued in the final days, just before their flight. This situation has put a lot of psychological pressure on the wrestlers and coaching staff and may disrupt their preparation plans.

The Importance of Ranking Competitions in Olympic Qualification
Given the changes in the Olympic qualification system, ranking competitions have gained more importance on the path to the Olympics, and the results of these competitions can play a decisive role in the standings of wrestlers. Therefore, Iranian wrestling must closely follow the issue of obtaining visas for America, in addition to technical and preparation matters, in the coming year. Any delay in visa issuance could affect the federation's planning and the readiness of the national athletes.
Moreover, America's presence in the wrestling calendar is not limited to the Coralville ranking competition. Los Angeles will also host the Senior World Championships in 2027, thus this country will hold two major international wrestling events in a short span of time. This could significantly impact the development and progress of wrestling in Iran.
