Yoon Suk-yeol, the President of South Korea, stated on Tuesday that Seoul will not accept any "submissive diplomacy" following disagreements with the U.S. government regarding the disclosure of information related to North Korea's nuclear facilities. He emphasized the importance of alliance with the United States as the cornerstone of his country's foreign policy and stated that South Korea's national interests must take precedence.

Emphasis on National Interests

As tensions over North Korea's nuclear program continue, Yoon Suk-yeol clearly stated that his country cannot simply yield to external pressures. He added that any agreement that leads to a reduction in South Korea's national interests is unacceptable and emphasized that diplomacy must be based on mutual respect and common interests.

These remarks by the President of South Korea come as the U.S. government has recently called for more information to be disclosed about North Korea's nuclear programs. Yoon Suk-yeol also pointed out that South Korea is striving to maintain security and stability in the region through closer cooperation with its allies.

Challenges Ahead

Given North Korea's nuclear programs and its frequent missile tests, the relationship between Seoul and Washington has been severely affected. Yoon Suk-yeol, referring to these challenges, emphasized that South Korea must continue to strengthen its military and diplomatic capabilities to protect its national interests.

These statements come as many analysts believe that diplomatic approaches should be adjusted to provide North Korea with incentives to reduce tensions. However, Yoon Suk-yeol, as a decisive leader, has shown that Seoul will not easily yield to international pressures, especially from the United States.

Ultimately, the President of South Korea, emphasizing the importance of alliance with the United States, expressed hope that the two countries can cooperate in line with their common interests and prevent further tensions. He stated: "We are seeking constructive and effective diplomacy that serves the interests of both countries, not submissive diplomacy."
