Weather changes in the first days of autumn can have significant impacts on the climate of Iran. Analyzing the medium-term outputs of the European ECMWF IFS HRES model for October 5th provides new information about the country's weather conditions.
Important Weather Indicators
To assess the weather conditions in Iran, it is essential to consider not only the precipitation map but also changes in surface pressure, temperatures in the middle layers of the atmosphere, and the movement paths of weather systems. These indicators determine whether the increase in clouds and potential rainfall is due to a stable and extensive system or is limited to local instabilities.

One of the most important indicators in analyzing autumn maps is the geopotential height at the 500 hPa level, which reflects the airflow conditions at an altitude of about five to six kilometers. A decrease in geopotential height and the formation of a trough at this level can indicate the arrival of cooler air and the establishment of conditions for instability.
The Role of Humidity and Sea Level Pressure
Sea level pressure is another important indicator that can play a role in the transfer of moisture into the country. If moist flows coincide with an unstable system, the likelihood of rain-bearing clouds forming increases. In northern Iran, the simultaneous analysis of the Caspian Sea humidity and wind flow is particularly significant.
When the moist flow encounters the Alborz mountains, it is forced to rise, and this phenomenon can aid in cloud formation and precipitation in mountainous areas. However, to predict rainfall on October 5th, hourly and cumulative precipitation maps for that day need to be examined.
In the central and southern regions of the country, simply high temperatures do not mean the absence of rainfall. Sufficient humidity and the mechanism of air ascent are essential for the formation of autumn showers. In the absence of these factors, warm and stable weather may continue.
In Tehran, forecasts indicate that a partly cloudy sky with a low chance of rain is expected. This prediction alone does not determine the status of other regions in the country, and more information is needed for a more accurate assessment of weather conditions.
