Wadfull, the German Foreign Minister, announced during his trip to Turkey that Germany, the UK, and France are ready to negotiate with Iran to prevent this country from acquiring nuclear weapons. These statements were made following a meeting of the foreign ministers of eight countries in Istanbul and reflect deep concerns regarding the situation in the Middle East.

The necessity of cooperation for regional security

After the meeting of the foreign ministers of the UK, Germany, Italy, France, Turkey, Egypt, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia, Wadfull emphasized the need to support Saudi Arabia and the Yemeni forces it backs, calling for a resumption of serious negotiations with the Houthis (Ansar Allah). He also referred to baseless claims, stating that Iran and Yemen are responsible for destabilizing the Middle East and the humanitarian crises in Yemen.

Consequences of regional wars

Wadfull further pointed to the potential impacts of a war between the US and Iran on regional security and oil prices, noting that the consequences of the Russia-Ukraine war also affect grain exports and the risk of famine in Africa. He emphasized that these issues clearly demonstrate the necessity of preventing a renewed escalation of conflicts and that closer cooperation among the countries present at the meeting is essential for exchanging views and exploring new approaches.

The German Foreign Minister also noted that there is no simple and immediate solution to these problems, and the participating countries in this meeting stressed the need for diplomatic efforts and better coordination in this regard. Wadfull urged Iran to change its stance and to end its attacks on ships, airports, and infrastructure.

In light of these developments, global concerns about the situation in the Middle East, particularly regarding the role of Iran and the Houthis in regional instability, have increased. This issue further highlights the need for cooperation and more serious dialogues, and it seems that the countries present at the Istanbul meeting are determined to find diplomatic solutions.
