Tyrese Haliburton, the young and talented star of the Indiana Pacers basketball team, took the initiative to purchase free tickets for Iowa State University students with the aim of generating excitement among them. These tickets are designated for the students of this university and provide an opportunity to watch the Indiana Pacers' preseason game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The university has also organized a raffle to distribute these tickets.
Preseason Game and Haliburton's Return
This match, taking place tomorrow morning Thursday at the "Hilton Coliseum" in Ames, will be Haliburton's first game after more than 16 months of absence. He suffered an Achilles tendon tear during Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder, which caused him to miss the entire last season. Now he is returning to the court and hopes to be on the floor for at least the first half of the game.

Haliburton's Relationship with Iowa State
Haliburton, who played for Iowa State from 2018 to 2020, has fond memories of this university. During that time, he met Jade, his wife, and even proposed to her on the Iowa State basketball court. Therefore, hosting this game at Iowa State is very important and valuable to him.
The 26-year-old player had previously suggested holding an NBA game at Iowa State. This proposal was well-received, especially considering that Chad Buchanan, the Pacers' general manager, was born in Des Moines. Rick Carlisle, the Pacers' head coach, also mentioned that this game was initially scheduled for 2025 but was postponed to this year due to Haliburton's injury.
Haliburton expressed his happiness about the students attending this game, saying, "I am hosting all the students, and I hope they enjoy this experience. I think it will be very interesting to see if they will all be Pacers fans or not." This statement reflects Haliburton's commitment to fostering a closer connection with the university community and supporting young people.
With this initiative, Haliburton not only gives students the opportunity to watch a professional game but also symbolizes a deeper bond between the basketball community and youth, encouraging them to pursue their dreams. Such support can inspire a new generation of athletes and fans and demonstrates the positive impact athletes can have on people's lives.
