The government of Donald Trump, the President of the United States, is facing anger and confusion due to its failure to end the war against Iran. This war, especially in the 20 days leading up to the midterm elections, has affected the lives of the people and placed a heavy burden on American households.
Heavy Costs of War for Households
The unprecedented rise in gasoline and diesel prices due to ongoing tensions in the Strait of Hormuz has forced American households to pay more. According to recent estimates, the U.S. imposed war against Iran has cost nearly $2,000 per household over the past eight months and has caused a total economic loss of $265 billion to the country.

Factors Contributing to Increased Costs
According to analyses, the surge in energy prices constitutes the largest share of this financial burden, imposing about $1,100 per household solely through increased fuel prices and transportation costs. The price of gasoline has risen from less than $3 to $4.37 per gallon, and this trend continues.
Additionally, higher interest rates have added another $540 in costs for each household. As a result, these war-related expenses have nearly wiped out half of the increase in the average American household income over the past eight months. This reality reflects the negative impact of Washington's adventurous policies on people's livelihoods.
Trump, who is trying to achieve victory in this war through threats and pressures, is now facing dissatisfaction and despair. His inability to end the war with Iran has made him angry and strangely paralyzed. Meanwhile, Republicans are concerned that high energy prices could help Democrats in the elections.
Analysts believe that the end of the war may only be possible with the withdrawal of the U.S. from the region. Jeffrey Sachs, a professor at Columbia University, has emphasized that there is no reason to continue this war and it should be stopped. Mike Pompeo, former U.S. Secretary of State, has also admitted to America's failure to achieve deterrence against Iran.
