The disagreement among close associates of Donald Trump, the President of the United States, regarding the continuation of tensions with Iran has become quite evident. Some advisors have warned Trump that opportunities for resuming war with Iran are diminishing, raising concerns among stakeholders.

Trump's Hesitation in Decision-Making

While Trump has yet to make a decision on launching a large-scale military operation against Iran, some White House officials believe he is in no rush to make any decisions regarding Iran. This uncertainty in decision-making may stem from deep divisions within his advisory team.

The Wall Street Journal reports, citing informed sources, that there are two main groups among Trump's advisors. The first group, including Marco Rubio, the U.S. Secretary of State, and Scott Pruitt, the Treasury Secretary, is calling for intensified sanctions and the continuation of the blockade against Iran. This group believes that increased pressure on Iran could lead to its capitulation.

Diplomatic Efforts Alongside Military Threats

In contrast, the second group, including J.D. Vance, the Vice President of the United States, and Steve Biegun, Trump's special envoy, is striving to support diplomacy to achieve a new agreement. This group believes that diplomatic talks could provide a solution to reduce tensions and help maintain Trump's credibility.

The Wall Street Journal also notes the support of Pete Hegseth, the U.S. Secretary of Defense, and Brad Cooper, the commander of Central Command, for military options. This divergence in advisors' opinions may reflect a crisis in decision-making in U.S. foreign policy.

Reports also indicate that Iranian officials will soon return to Doha to discuss a potential agreement. This agreement could provide Trump with an opportunity to maintain his credibility by ending the war. According to obtained information, the duration of negotiations between Washington and Tehran has been reduced from 60 days to just 2 days.

Interestingly, this agreement may allow Trump to register a diplomatic victory ahead of the upcoming presidential election. While some of his advisors still believe in military options, it seems that diplomacy and the effort for an agreement are currently at the forefront.
