After consecutive defeats against Uzbekistan and Russia, the Iranian national football team faced a serious challenge in its preparation for the future. The Iranian Football Federation, which was looking to hold another friendly match for the national team, seems to have ultimately canceled the third match during the FIFA window, and Amir Ghalenooi's team has ended with two defeats.

Negotiations for a friendly match

The Iranian Football Federation was trying to reach an agreement with several African teams, especially Guinea-Bissau, to hold a friendly match. After Guinea-Bissau's 3-0 victory over Nigeria, the team announced that it was willing to meet Iran in one of the countries Turkey or Qatar. Guinea-Bissau even expressed its readiness to travel to Iran. However, for various reasons, this agreement did not materialize, and the match was canceled.

In recent days, the Football Federation also reached an agreement with Equatorial Guinea, and the match was supposed to be held in the city of Tabriz. However, after the cancellation of the match in Turkey, efforts to obtain visas for the members of the Equatorial Guinea team did not succeed, and ultimately this match was also canceled.

Change of Ghalenooi's mind

Amir Ghalenooi, the head coach of the national football team, decided against holding the third match after observing his team's performance in recent games. The coaching staff was looking for an opportunity to compensate after the defeat against Uzbekistan. However, after another defeat against Russia and the departure of the legionnaires from the camp, Ghalenooi felt that he should not take the field with an incomplete team. He knew well that if he did not win the next match, the pressures on him would increase, and there was a possibility of his dismissal from the national team coaching position.

This decision was clearly influenced by recent criticisms and the specific conditions of the coaching staff. Ghalenooi is seeking to enter future FIFA windows with a more complete and prepared team. The national team will head to a tournament in Iraq in the next FIFA window and hopes to perform better there.

However, the cancellation of the third match for the Iranian national team is considered another failure and reflects the existing challenges in preparing the national team for upcoming competitions. Iranian football fans hope that with necessary changes and improved conditions, the national team can achieve success in future tournaments.
