The number of active escalators in the Tehran metro network reached 1,382 units. Hadi Zand, the director of communications and international affairs of the Tehran Metro Operating Company, announced that with the operation of 4 new escalators at the Mahdieh station located on Line 3, this number has increased to 291 units on this line.
Distribution of escalators across different metro lines
Zand stated: "Currently, there are 1,382 active escalators in various stations of the metro network, serving passengers for about 17 hours a day." The number of escalators by metro lines is as follows: 180 units on Line 1, 134 units on Line 2, 291 units on Line 3, 220 units on Line 4, 31 units on Line 5, 253 units on Line 6, and 273 units on Line 7.
Records and needs
Zand noted that the highest number of escalators among the metro lines belongs to Line 3, adding: "City Theater Station holds the record in this section with 44 escalators." Additionally, the least number of escalators is found on Line 5, which has less need for vertical transportation equipment due to its ground-level stations.
The director of communications and international affairs of the Tehran Metro Operating Company concluded by stating: "Increasing the capacity of access equipment plays an important role in enhancing travel quality, improving safety, and facilitating the movement of citizens, and this path will continue with the completion of other stations and equipment." This action can be seen as a positive step towards improving metro services and passenger satisfaction.
