Hassan Jouni, a Lebanese military expert, reported on the potential occurrence of several military options by Israel in Nabatieh and stated that these developments could impact the lives of the residents of this area. Following Israel's recent military actions, the city of Nabatieh in southern Lebanon has become one of the main targets.
Military Developments in Nabatieh
Jouni pointed out the bombing and targeting of government centers in Nabatieh, including the Ministry of Finance and hospitals, stating that these attacks have altered the way of life in this city and some residents are leaving their homes. The atmosphere currently prevailing in Nabatieh indicates that this city could be Israel's next target.
This expert emphasized that although Nabatieh is at the center of Israel's attacks, the likelihood of the Israeli army advancing towards this city seems weak. However, if this possibility materializes, Israel will have two options: advancing towards Deir al-Zahrani and attacking Jabal al-Rihani.
Challenges in Negotiations and the Role of the U.S.
Amine Qamourieh, a Lebanese writer and political analyst, referred to the existing challenges in the negotiations between Lebanon and Israel, stating: "The continuation of Israel's military operations in the south complicates the negotiations and places the Lebanese government in a complex situation." He noted that under the current circumstances, negotiations are practically impossible in the shadow of ongoing Israeli attacks.
According to Qamourieh, the U.S., as a mediator and observer of these negotiations, must ensure Israel's commitment to the ceasefire. Lebanese sources have announced that the next round of negotiations between Beirut and Tel Aviv, which was supposed to take place this month in Rome, has been canceled due to the increase in Israeli attacks on various parts of southern Lebanon and the failure of the previous round of negotiations.
Joseph Aoun, the President of Lebanon, also stated during his recent visit to Nabatieh that the timing of the next round of negotiations is uncertain, further adding to concerns regarding the security situation in southern Lebanon.
