Tehran welcomes National Children's Week. Special programs for this event will be held from October 7 to 13 in the 22 districts of Tehran and will include a series of urban programs focusing on children, families, and the realization of the "Child-Friendly City" approach.

An Opportunity to Hear Children's Voices

Mahdi Amiri, the Director General of Citizen Education at Tehran Municipality, pointed out that the continuation of these programs during the sixth term of urban management provides an opportunity for viewing children as more than just an audience for cultural programs, allowing them to be seen and heard in the urban space as citizens with rights, ideas, and perspectives.

Amiri added that Tehran's urban management aims to create opportunities for dialogue with children and their participation in city-related issues during this week, pursuing the concept of "Child-Friendly City" through tangible and experiential programs.

Special Programs for National Children's Week

Among the special programs for this week are "The City in the Hands of Children" with children's participation in the offices of senior urban managers, mayors of districts and areas, children's presence in the Tehran City Council, consultative meetings on child-friendly cities, storytelling by children, and programs related to the executive committee of this resolution.

In another part of the programs, meetings with the families of children who were martyrs in the 12-day war and Ramadan war will be held to honor the families of martyrs and transfer the culture of sacrifice and dedication to the younger generation.

Additionally, the "Doll Garden" carnival, a playground design workshop for children under 13, the "Positive Childhood" initiative providing special services in recreational and tourism centers, a children's city festival in the regions, the "Childhood Affection" special program in care centers for children with special conditions and children's hospitals, children's cinema, "Poetry in the Hands of Children," and "Mom's Stories" are among the other planned programs for this week.

The Director General of Citizen Education at Tehran Municipality emphasized the importance of considering children's perspectives in urban policymaking, stating: The city of the future is one that hears children's voices today; therefore, National Children's Week can be an opportunity for urban management to get closer to the concerns, needs, and ideas of the future generation.

He noted that the implementation of this series of programs in the 22 districts aims to create a diverse, joyful, cultural, and participatory experience for children and families and to strengthen the culture of citizenship from childhood.

National Children's Week will be held from October 7 to 13 with the participation of various urban management sectors and through a series of cultural, educational, social, and participatory programs in Tehran.
