Tehran Municipality has launched special support for newborns and families in the capital with the unveiling of the 'Cheshm Roshan' package. Maryam Ardabili, the director of women's and family affairs at the municipality, announced at the ceremony that newborns, as new citizens of Tehran, deserve attention and support.
Details of the 'Cheshm Roshan' Package
The 'Cheshm Roshan' package includes supportive services provided to families through the 'Shahrzad' platform. Ardabili explained that this package has no specific conditions and includes all newborns born in Tehran. In the first phase, an amount of 2.5 million tomans will be credited monthly to the mothers' wallets, which they can use to purchase essential items from Shahrvand stores and fruit and vegetable markets or to utilize cultural and recreational services under the municipality's supervision.
Attention to Mothers and Families
The director of women's and family affairs at Tehran Municipality noted that this package is activated in the name of mothers so that they can plan for cultural, health, or livelihood expenses based on the family's needs. Information about newborns is automatically uploaded to the system through a memorandum of understanding with the Civil Registration Organization, and families do not need to register in person or go through administrative procedures.
Ardabili also pointed out that this package is not just financial assistance, but part of a larger puzzle to support families. For example, special gift packages have been arranged at Milad Tower for families visiting with their newborns for the first time.
The goal of this initiative is to transform Tehran into a family-oriented city. Alongside this initiative, Tehran Municipality has undertaken actions such as identifying a thousand challenging points for mothers and children and improving them, as well as constructing 120 mother and child rooms in busy areas.
The director of women's and family affairs at Tehran Municipality stated that this initiative will continue until the child reaches two years of age, saying: "The funding for this initiative comes from the supportive budgets of the Women's and Family Center and will be fully included in the budget for the year 1406." She also emphasized that although this initiative alone will not change the fertility rate, it demonstrates the urban management's commitment to facilitating the path of child-rearing and providing practical support to Tehranian families.
