The suspension of two passenger transport companies following the tragic bus incidents in Markazi Province and the Sarbisheh route in South Khorasan is a swift reaction to the identified shortcomings in these incidents. Colonel Siavash Mohibi, head of the traffic police of Faraja, extended his condolences to the grieving families of the victims and emphasized that preserving the lives and health of the public is the police's red line, and any violations will be dealt with without leniency.

Details of the Incidents and Identified Shortcomings

In the first incident that occurred on the Saveh-Hamedan highway, the overturning of the bus resulted in the deaths of 11 people and injuries to 24 others. Colonel Mohibi explained that the driver's negligence, stemming from committing violations and engaging in risky maneuvers, led to his inability to control the vehicle. In this incident, two other shortcomings were identified, one related to the company responsible for the construction, maintenance, and operation of the highway, which had failed to ensure the safety of the route, and the other concerning the manager of the passenger transport company, who had not properly adhered to the physical and mental health requirements for the driver.

Consequences of the Incidents and Police Actions

In the second incident that occurred on the Sarbisheh route, the primary cause of the accident was determined to be the driver's carelessness and lack of attention ahead. This incident also led to the spread of fire and the deaths of the passengers. In these investigations, the police discovered not only the driver's negligence but also two other shortcomings: first, the lack of adequate oversight by the passenger transport company regarding the technical health certification of the bus, and second, the owner's negligence due to modifications made to the vehicle's standard fuel tank.

Colonel Mohibi stated that immediately after these two incidents, the activities of the two violating passenger transport companies were suspended, noting that these companies do not have the right to continue operations or issue passenger status until a final resolution is determined. The case of these two companies will be sent to the Article 12 Commission of the Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization for review and determination of the extent and duration of their operational suspension.
