The United Arab Emirates Civil Aviation Authority announced on Thursday, October 24, that all flights by Iranian airlines to the UAE and from this country have been suspended. This decision was made following stringent sanctions that have particularly affected the Iranian aviation industry.

Reasons for the Flight Suspension

The statement issued by this authority clarified that the suspension is based on sanctions imposed by the United States. These sanctions are designed to prevent Iranian airlines from using international airport services worldwide. For this reason, the United Arab Emirates decided to take this action.

This suspension will have significant impacts on the tourism and trade industry between Iran and the UAE. Dubai is recognized as one of the important travel destinations for Iranians, with several flights operating daily between Iran and this city. Additionally, a large community of Iranians lives in Dubai, and there are close business relations between the two countries.

Economic and Social Consequences

According to reliable sources cited by Agence France-Presse, several other countries have also suspended flights to Iran. While flight routes to Turkey and China remain active, this decision could lead to a reduction in economic and social interactions between Iran and other countries.

Alongside this issue, the United Arab Emirates had been targeted by Iranian missiles and drones during the early stages of the war. This country also suspended its trade and financial exchanges with Iran last month, clearly indicating the escalating tensions between the two countries.

Two days ago, the Central Bank of the UAE also pointed to violations of anti-money laundering and terrorism financing laws by blocking financial transactions of the National Bank of Iran's branches in this country. These actions somewhat reflect international pressures on Iran and their effects on foreign relations with Iran.

Overall, the suspension of flights by Iranian airlines to the United Arab Emirates will not only negatively impact the tourism industry but may also lead to a reduction in trade and social relations between Iran and the UAE.
