Playful students of Dr. Khazaeli School for the Blind today experienced unforgettable moments in the small but energetic schoolyard by holding student Paralympic competitions. On this day, the sports bell turned into a platform for showcasing physical and mental abilities instead of sitting through school lessons.
Sports Competitions and Excitement
The school principal and teachers patiently lined up the students and began the competitions with the beautiful recitation of the Quran by "Abulfazl Ramazanzadeh." These competitions included tug-of-war, hoop games, goalball, and chess, which were especially exciting for middle school students. Among the 80 boys and the only girl in the school, Khadijeh, whose twin brothers also study at the same school, was present with the permission of the exceptional education department.

Uncle Ahmad Moeini, the host of the competitions and a wise elder from Lorestan, along with Mahmoud Yousufian, the school's physical education teacher, created a lively and friendly atmosphere for the students. With the provision of play equipment and Uncle Ahmad's encouragement, the children competed in the hoop games and tug-of-war, creating a unique excitement in the schoolyard.
An Opportunity to Showcase Talents
In the hoop games, Elyas, with his eyes closed and professional movements, attracted the admiration of his classmates and teacher. He happily said, "I practice hooping 200 times at home every day!" These competitions not only provided an opportunity to express abilities but also motivated the children to pay more attention to professional sports.
Hossein and Mohammad Taha were also engaged in chess competitions in the schoolyard. Hossein believed that with more support from officials for blind sports, more talents could be identified and nurtured. Although prizes were awarded to the winners, all students left this valuable experience feeling victorious.
Mahmoud Yousufian, the school coach with 30 years of experience in exceptional education, emphasized the importance of using touch and hearing in teaching sports movements to blind children. He believes that these children need appropriately adapted facilities to be able to participate in sports safely.
The school principal, Masoumeh Asalat Nejad, is determined to improve sports conditions for blind students. She is currently negotiating with the municipality of District 12 to provide more facilities for conducting training sessions for the children. In this regard, a regular training program is being prepared for the children so that they can continuously practice sports and develop their talents.
