The red meat market on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, has taken on a calm appearance, with various prices of this protein product trading without noticeable changes or fluctuations compared to previous days, remaining within earlier price channels. This situation has arisen especially as industry players and consumers closely monitor supply and demand developments to understand how long this calm will last.

Challenges in the Red Meat Market

In recent months, fluctuations in production costs, including the prices of animal feed, transportation costs, and wages, have exerted additional pressure on the market. However, the prevailing stagflation in the market and the decline in household purchasing power have resulted in limited demand for red meat purchases. This situation is particularly seen as a factor that restricts suppliers from raising prices and has pushed the market towards a fragile balance.

The provision of regulated items and the import of frozen and fresh meats by relevant authorities have also significantly alleviated temporary market tensions. Nevertheless, the motivation of brokers and intermediaries in the distribution chain remains one of the serious threats to price stability. Without continuous oversight of the distribution network, any small fluctuation in the price of live animals can quickly transfer to the retail market.

Expectations from Regulatory Policies

Buyers and industry players are awaiting new regulatory policies to ensure that the current market calm will not be disrupted by speculation. The sustainability of the current conditions requires more coordination than ever among the regulatory bodies, trade unions, and livestock farmers. As long as supply is managed in accordance with the needs of real consumers, family budgets will not experience sudden fluctuations. However, daily market monitoring shows that any negligence in the supply sector could jeopardize the current fragile balance.

New Red Meat Prices

According to the latest surveys conducted in the red meat market, the following prices have been announced for various types of meat: beef shank at 2,275,000 tomans per kilogram and lamb shank at 2,350,000 tomans. Additionally, the price of lamb stew meat is set at 1,680,000 tomans per kilogram, and the price for beef neck is 1,750,000 tomans per kilogram. Furthermore, mixed ground beef and lamb is available to consumers at 1,620,000 tomans per kilogram.
