Soodah Najafi, on the sidelines of a joint drill organized by the Women's and Family Center of Tehran Municipality and the Crisis Management and Prevention Department, emphasized the necessity of citizens' preparedness in facing crises. She pointed out the existing dangers in Tehran, including land subsidence and the potential for earthquakes due to fault lines, stating that all citizens must be prepared for emergencies.

The Importance of Training in Times of Crisis

Najafi, referring to experiences from past crises, especially the imposed war, noted that these experiences demonstrate the critical need for public preparedness for emergencies. She stated: "Holding such drills can help increase the city's resilience and specifically train women in crisis management. This training can include familiarity with first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation methods, which can help save lives during a crisis."

Continuous and Neighborhood-Based Training

Najafi also emphasized that crisis management training should be pursued continuously and at the neighborhood level. Referring to the global trend in urban management moving towards neighborhood-based approaches, she said: "Neighborhood houses, Shahbanoo and Shahdokht centers, and even parks can be considered suitable places for providing public training."

This member of the Tehran City Council also noted that training should not be limited to women working in the municipality. She said: "Access to this training must be provided for all women, including those who visit parks, so they can act in the best way during crises."

With these statements, Najafi aims to create a public culture regarding preparedness for crises and empowering women in this area. She believes that by increasing awareness and knowledge in crisis management, women can play a more key role in society and act as rescuers and lifesavers during emergencies.
