Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, referred to his country's concerns regarding the presence of U.S. forces in the region in an interview with the Armenpress news agency, stating: "We have concerns and sensitivities regarding any U.S. presence in our surrounding region."

U.S. Presence and Its Impacts

Araghchi mentioned the project "Trump's Path to International Peace and Prosperity" (TRIPP) in this interview and added that this project could have negative impacts on the security and stability of the region. He also pointed out that Iran has always prioritized its security and is seeking to maintain regional stability.

Consultations with Armenia

The Foreign Minister, referring to the ongoing consultations between Iran and Armenia, said: "We are in direct contact with our Armenian friends and know that they will not take any actions against Iran's security." These statements somewhat reflect Iran's trust in Armenia regarding regional security.

Araghchi also mentioned the visit of Ararat Mirzoyan, the Foreign Minister of Armenia, to Tehran and the meeting of Masoud Pezeshkian with the Prime Minister of Armenia, stating that these meetings were aimed at strengthening the relations between the two countries and further consultations on security and political issues.

In a region that is constantly facing various security challenges, the presence of U.S. forces could exacerbate complexities. Araghchi emphasized the importance of continuous consultations with Armenia, showing that Iran seeks to maintain friendly relations and alliances in the region.

These concerns arise while Iran has traditionally had close relations with Armenia, and both countries are striving to prevent new tensions. In this context, Araghchi referred to Armenia as a strategic partner and emphasized the continuation of dialogues in various fields.
