Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, spoke on Sunday morning, October 12, during a meeting with ambassadors, chargé d'affaires, and heads of foreign and international missions residing in Tehran, about Iran's firm stance against military threats. He emphasized that if enemies once again resort to military confrontation, they will face a stronger response than before.
Appreciation for Iran's Active Diplomacy in New York
Araghchi thanked the efforts made to arrange diplomatic meetings in New York, announcing his meeting with 42 foreign ministers in the city. Araghchi also announced Iran's seven-day plan to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, stating that if this plan is accepted, the strait will be reopened to ships within seven days. He clarified that the Islamic Republic of Iran is always seeking peaceful and diplomatic solutions.
Response to American Claims
The Foreign Minister referred to the strange claims by the Americans regarding the expulsion of the Iranian delegation from New York, calling this behavior unacceptable and childish. Araghchi emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran traveled to New York according to a pre-determined schedule, and these claims reflect the Americans' anger at Iran's diplomatic presence.
He added: "The Americans' notion that they can isolate Iran is completely failed, and Iran is recognized as a powerful and respected country in the international community. We conveyed the voice of the Iranian people to the world at the General Assembly and delivered a message of peace to the world."
Araghchi also stressed that if the U.S. moves towards military solutions, Iran will be more prepared than ever and will take any necessary actions to defend itself. At the same time, he expressed hope that the U.S. would choose the path of diplomacy, and accordingly, Iran remains ready to continue fair and honorable negotiations.
In conclusion, the Foreign Minister stated: "There is no military solution and no solution based on further sanctions; only a solution based on negotiation, justice, and fairness can help end this war and illegal aggression."
