Saudi Arabia is attempting to reach out to the Islamic Republic of Iran and request its mediation in the Yemen crisis. Abdullah al-Naimi, a member of the political bureau of Yemen's Ansar Allah movement, stated in a statement that these contacts are part of Saudi Arabia's efforts to improve the situation in Yemen.
Ansar Allah's Position and Ceasefire Conditions
Al-Naimi further emphasized that Ansar Allah is an independent actor and does not accept any orders from others. He also added that the people of Yemen will not accept any ceasefire until the blockade of Yemen is lifted. This stance reflects Ansar Allah's firm determination to continue resisting and defending the rights of the Yemeni people.
Oman's Mediation and Security Efforts
Oman is recognized as a mediator between Saudi Arabia and Yemen and is making efforts to establish peace. At the same time, Major General Yahya Saree, spokesman for the Yemeni armed forces, reported the failure of a Saudi plan in Sana'a. He stated that Yemeni forces have been able to thwart attempts to disrupt security in the city.
Al-Naimi, emphasizing the failure of Saudi efforts to disrupt Yemen's stability, said that the people of Yemen are capable of resisting and defending their country and consider any Saudi action conceivable. This situation indicates increased tensions in the region and the continuation of the war in Yemen.
Despite international efforts to end the war in Yemen, the situation appears to remain critical. In this context, Saudi Arabia's contacts with Iran for mediation could represent a new development towards peace and stability in Yemen. But will these efforts yield results? Only time will tell.
