The return of 151 historical artifacts of Iran, which had been displayed for two years as part of the "Land of Love" exhibition in China, has taken place. These items were transferred to Iran on November 3, 2026, while fully adhering to protective and security regulations.

History of the Exhibition and the Departure of Artifacts

The Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts entrusted these artifacts for an exhibition at the Sichuan University Museum in China in 2024, with the aim of introducing Iranian culture and history. The "Land of Love" exhibition began on January 25, 2025, and was scheduled to last for six months. The departure of these artifacts, which were sent from various museums in Tehran including the Reza Abbasi Museum, the Glass and Ceramic Museum, the Carpet Museum, and the Moghaddam Museum, was approved by the Cabinet.

Reasons for Delay in Return

Leila Khosravi, the head of the National Museum Department, previously explained the delay in the return of these artifacts, stating that the exhibition ended in June 2025, but due to a 12-day war in the region, the return of these items to their homeland was halted for several months. During this time, the Chinese government sent a request for an extension of the exhibition to the Iranian government, and after agreeing to this request, the exhibition continued for a longer period.

Ali Talai, the director general of cultural heritage, tourism, and handicrafts in Tehran Province, explained the process of returning these artifacts, stating that after the end of the exhibition tour in China and the last exhibition held in the city of Lushan in Dalian, these 151 historical items returned to Iran. He also elaborated on the stages of transferring and delivering the artifacts and emphasized that all items were transferred to the repository in completely safe conditions and with adherence to protective measures.

The Importance of This Return

Talai further noted the importance of preserving the authenticity and integrity of historical artifacts during international transfers, considering the return of this collection a significant action that requires precise planning in the country's sensitive conditions. He acknowledged the complete cooperation and coordination between the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and the government in the success of this mission.

In conclusion, Talai expressed gratitude for the cooperation of the Chinese side in organizing and hosting the "Land of Love" exhibition and thanked the efforts of the managers, experts, and specialists who played a role in designing, organizing, and supporting this cultural event.
