In a public session on Sunday, November 3, the Islamic Consultative Assembly approved a new bill imposing heavy penalties on foreign nationals who illegally enter the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran. This action is aimed at countering the influence of intelligence services and foreign entities in the country and is intended to maintain security and public order.

Details of the Penalties

According to the added clause to Article 22 of this bill, the Ministry of Intelligence and the Intelligence Organization of the IRGC are required to publish a list of media related to this law within a maximum period of 3 months. This action reflects lawmakers' attention to transparency and informing the public.

According to the amended Article 23, the illegal entry or residence of foreign nationals in Iran, unless due to a valid excuse or delay in the administrative processes for extending permits, may result in deportation and a fine of up to 10,000 euros. This fine will be determined by the judicial authority based on the financial capability of the offender.

Penalties Related to National Security

Foreign nationals who have entered the country legally will also be subject to these penalties if they commit any actions against national security or violate public order. This issue is particularly significant in the fields of security and social order, and lawmakers emphasize it strongly.

The penalty for a foreign national who commits another punitive crime in Iran will also be increased by one degree. This reflects the serious determination of lawmakers to maintain security and public order and to address serious violations in this area.

With this decision, it is expected that the security and social situation in the country will improve and the possibility of infiltration and illegal activities by foreign nationals will be minimized. This law is somewhat a response to existing concerns about national security and public order, which have always been primary concerns for the country's officials.

Ultimately, this law can serve as a new tool for controlling and managing the presence of foreign nationals in the country, potentially having significant impacts on Iran's relations with other countries as well as the internal situation of the country.
