The National Budget and Planning Organization, in line with supporting vulnerable groups, has started the process of reviewing self-reports registered in the 'My Government' portal, and in this regard, the first phase of supplementary food coupon payments of 500,000 tomans has been carried out for a group of applicants.

Notification to Applicants

Individuals who previously received an SMS regarding the inclusion of the food coupon increase and have completed the self-reporting process in the 'My Government' portal are now receiving supplementary payments. To date, the information of several applicants has been reviewed, and 500,000 tomans have been deposited into their accounts.

Review Process and Deadlines

According to the executive instructions, the process of reviewing information continues in stages. The responsible agencies assess the status of each household by matching the self-reported data of users with registered and field data. If applicants meet the criteria for vulnerable groups, they will be eligible for an increase in food coupons in the coming months.

Heads of households who have received an SMS but have not successfully self-reported should wait for a new deadline announcement from the National Budget and Planning Organization for the 'left behind'. Additionally, households that have not received any messages so far should wait for the announcement of the time for re-evaluation requests.

Currently, any credit displayed in the system is withdrawable, and there is no credit marked as 'unusable'. The continuation of these payments in the coming months will be entirely dependent on the alignment of self-reported information with registered data and the criteria set for vulnerable households.

The increase in food coupons in the form of a 'self-reporting' system reflects the government's effort to more accurately identify vulnerable groups to prevent chaos in resource distribution. Although this approach prevents fraud, it may cause delays in getting support to those in real need due to administrative complexities.

Ultimately, the supplementary payments of 500,000 tomans, in comparison to the inflation rate of essential goods, serve more as a 'relief' than as 'meeting needs'. This transfer of payments to a platform like the 'My Government' portal is a step towards digitizing welfare and reducing intermediaries, which, if implemented more swiftly, could increase public satisfaction.
