Parviz Sarvari, Vice President of the Tehran City Council, emphasized the importance of developing the public transport fleet during the 433rd session of this council and requested the government to provide the necessary support in this regard.
The Need to Address Traffic and Air Pollution
Sarvari, speaking to reporters, pointed out the serious challenges Tehran faces, especially regarding air pollution and traffic, stating: "The most complex issue in the country is air pollution and traffic. Any action taken in this area must yield results in the long term. One of these actions is the development of the public transport fleet, which requires cooperation and support from the government."

He added: "The inputs and outputs of vehicles in the country do not match, and this issue causes increased traffic. We are still facing problems in the rail network that need to be addressed. The lack of wagon imports due to war conditions is one of the reasons for these problems, which has a direct impact on the traffic situation."
City Hall Working Hours and Public Engagement
Sarvari also referred to the working hours of the Tehran City Hall and said: "If the City Hall adheres to government working hours, the question is why should its working hours be the same as the government? The City Hall is a service-oriented entity that is directly connected to the people and should extend its working hours." He also stated that there might be issues in the executive section of the City Hall that need to be resolved.
The Vice President of the Tehran City Council, referring to the reopening of schools and the need for traffic management during this time, said: "Traffic management during the reopening of schools is also of special importance, and measures should be taken to reduce traffic."
Trip to Russia and Electoral Experiences
Sarvari also spoke about his recent trip to Russia and the electoral experiences of that country, saying: "During this trip, a thousand people from various countries were invited to Russia. This trip coincided with Russia's fully electronic elections, and individuals could participate in the elections both in person and remotely. We can utilize Russia's experiences in the upcoming Islamic Consultative Assembly elections next year."
Sarvari concluded by noting that all buses purchased for public transport are insured and that they are currently reviewing related claims. He expressed hope that with the cooperation of the government and the City Hall, the public transport problems in Tehran would be resolved soon.
