Nasser Amani, a member of the Tehran City Council, criticized the critical situation of the Peykan Shahr neighborhood during the 434th session of the Tehran City Council. This neighborhood, located in Zone 4 of District 22, consists of 70 blocks and 1,300 residential units with a population of about 6,000 people. Interestingly, 90 percent of the residents of this neighborhood are retirees from Iran Khodro, which itself highlights the importance of this issue.
History and Poor Conditions of Peykan Shahr
The Peykan Shahr complex was built in 1973, and according to Amani, no action has been taken for the renovation of this complex except for internal repairs. He emphasized: "What we saw in this complex was not just a matter of safety; the conditions are such that people are careful that the columns do not collapse on their heads." These statements reflect the deep concern of residents about the safety of the buildings and infrastructure in the neighborhood.

Amani also referred to ownership issues, which are one of the main challenges for the residents of this neighborhood, stating: "Iran Khodro has not provided the necessary grounds for reconstruction in this neighborhood, and some citizens live in difficult conditions in the residential units of this area." This issue clearly requires urgent attention and action.
Infrastructural and Educational Problems in Peykan Shahr
One of the most serious problems in this neighborhood is the sewage situation. Amani noted: "The water piping network in this neighborhood is very dilapidated, and the water meters are also in poor condition, and we witness their bursting every now and then." This issue not only affects the quality of life of the residents but also increases the likelihood of unfortunate incidents.
Furthermore, Amani pointed to the condition of the schools in the complex, saying: "There are 6 schools in this complex that are struggling with dilapidation. The municipality has paved the grounds of these schools, but the buildings are worn out." This educational situation, located in the heart of one of the largest cities in the country, is deeply regrettable and requires special attention.
Amani continued: "This complex has 23 hectares of green space, but its maintenance is facing challenges. The municipality has kindly provided three green space staff for the complex, but maintaining and watering these 23 hectares is beyond the capacity of three people." This issue reflects insufficient attention to the green space and environment of the residents.
Finally, Amani called for the renovation and safety of residential buildings and the facilitation of investor entry by Iran Khodro. He also referred to the need to resolve the wastewater treatment plant, restore water storage conditions, renovate the connecting pipes, and address the situation of the 6 schools in the complex, stating: "Securing funding for the repair of school restroom facilities, attention to green spaces, ensuring the safety of dilapidated facilities and the electricity network, collecting exposed power cables, and resolving the status of two bridges belonging to the municipality and the Ministry of Urban Development are among the requests of the residents of this neighborhood."
