Morteza Dehghan, the CEO of Iran Airports and Air Navigation Company, emphasized the importance of Iran's sky as a golden shortcut for global airlines, discussing the capacities of this air corridor. This air corridor, which continuously witnesses traffic exchange with 12 neighboring countries, plays a key role in the sustainability of the air logistics chain due to reduced flight distance and fuel savings.

Safe Management of Iran's Airspace

Dehghan stated that Iran's airspace is managed in strict compliance with the regulations of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). He described Iran's airspace as a safe and reliable platform for transit flights, asserting that all navigation processes in this route are based on global standards. This reflects Iran's determination to maintain its share in the global air transit market.

Challenges and Opportunities in Infrastructure Reconstruction

However, maintaining this capacity in recent months has been accompanied by operational and security challenges. Dehghan referred to the direct damages caused by hostile actions during the war, stating that these actions have led to damage to runways, taxiways, aircraft parking areas, and other infrastructures at around 27 airports. Restoring these infrastructures to operational status in the shortest possible time has been one of the biggest tests for the Airports Company.

The strategy of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development after the ceasefire has prioritized the reopening of airports to facilitate the movement of passengers, traders, and students. This reconstruction has been carried out using modern studies and upgrading equipment to enhance safety while meeting international commitments.

The quick return of airports to operational status has restored foreign companies' confidence and stabilized the growth of transit flights through Iran as a shorter and more economical route. Securing sustainable resources for equipment development amid sanctions and economic pressures remains one of the key concerns.

In this regard, Dehghan stated that to compensate for the decline in revenues due to temporary disruptions in flight traffic, new financing methods, including land monetization and partnerships with the private sector, have been put on the agenda. This approach helps the Airports Company to fulfill its commitments to the international air network without halting the modernization of its fleet and navigation equipment.

The message of Iran's aviation industry to the global community is now clear: Iran's sky, relying on its strategic position and reconstructed infrastructures, remains the safest and most economical choice for airlines seeking efficiency on long routes. The insistence on adhering to ICAO regulations, alongside the technical upgrading of infrastructures, demonstrates Iran's determination to maintain its share in the global air transit market and prevent additional costs to the aviation industry and humanity.
