Mohammad Javad Kolivand, the governor of Semnan, emphasized the importance of international students being aware of the laws and regulations of the country during a meeting on Thursday morning aimed at reviewing the guidelines for interaction and providing services to international students. He stated that just as Iranian students are required to adhere to the host country's laws, international students must also familiarize themselves with the laws before starting their studies in Iran.
The necessity of clarifying laws for international students
Kolivand noted that regulations should be clarified and communicated to international students from the outset. He added: "In case of violations, the process of addressing them should be pursued through the university and legal authorities so that issues are managed within a defined framework." These statements reflect the government's serious determination to organize the situation of international students and prevent problems from arising.
Managing social and security issues
The governor of Semnan also referred to the distinction between social issues and security topics, stating: "Many issues related to international students have a social nature and should be addressed with an appropriate approach and within defined mechanisms." He thanked the governor of Semnan and other relevant agencies for effectively managing recent issues and said that when problems arise, responsible agencies must be present in the field with coordination and timely decision-making.
Kolivand further regarded accurate information dissemination and precise narration of events as essential for managing social issues. He emphasized that in the face of events, the subject should be clarified for the community in a timely manner and based on accurate information to reduce incorrect narratives in cyberspace.
The governor of Semnan, highlighting the capacity of Semnan University to attract domestic and international students, noted that the goal of the provincial agencies should be to help elevate the status of Semnan University and create suitable conditions for the education and living of students. He also announced the province's readiness to support universities in this regard, stating: "International students should be informed of the country's laws and regulations from the moment they arrive, and there should also be a defined mechanism for following up on potential violations."
Kolivand proposed the formation of a working group to quickly address issues related to international students, stating: "In case of any issues, the relevant agencies should hold a meeting in the shortest possible time and decide on how to manage it." This action could help resolve issues more quickly and prevent more serious problems from arising.
