Mohammad Ishaq Dar, the Foreign Minister of Pakistan, announced that the Makkah Agreement meeting will be held to review the situation of Yemen's Ansarullah and regional security developments. This meeting will focus on attacks against Saudi Arabia and efforts to address these issues through political and diplomatic channels.

Countries' Interest in Joining the Makkah Agreement

Ishaq Dar pointed out that more than 6 countries have expressed interest in joining this agreement. He also noted that decisions regarding membership requests will not be made until this agreement is fully operational. This process may take up to a year.

Security Discussions and Defense Cooperation

This meeting will take place after a session held on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. In that session, the foreign ministers of three countries discussed progress in establishing a secretariat, committees, and working groups outlined in the agreement and the preparations for their operations.

Dar further emphasized the importance of maritime security, stating: "There should be no cost for passing through the Strait of Hormuz." This statement clearly underscores the need for international cooperation to maintain security in this sensitive region.

Agreement on the Principle of Collective Defense

In the first meeting of the Strategic Political and Defense Committee established under this agreement, held on August 31 in Istanbul, participating countries agreed to strengthen defense cooperation and develop military capabilities. A decision was also made to establish a secretariat for this agreement in Saudi Arabia.

The essence of this agreement is based on the premise that an attack on any member country is considered an attack on all members, reflecting the principle of collective defense enshrined in Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). This principle can help strengthen the collective security of member countries and enable them to act more effectively against common threats.

In light of recent developments, this meeting is expected to be seen as an important step towards strengthening regional cooperation and addressing security challenges in the Middle East. In this regard, participating countries hope to achieve greater stability and security in the region through joint decisions.
