Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, in the open session of the Islamic Consultative Assembly on Sunday, September 29, in his pre-speech address on the anniversary of the start of the imposed war, pointed out two strategic errors in the country and emphasized that we must both fight and negotiate.

Historical Experience and the Necessity of Resistance

Ghalibaf recalled the eight years of sacred defense and said: "The Sacred Defense Week is not merely a recounting of a historical memory, but a tested experience for safeguarding independence and national dignity against the enemy's onslaught." He noted that while the battlefield used to be confined to geographical borders, he added: "Today, defense has taken on a more fluid and profound form."

The Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly noted: "The resistance of the Iranian people not only guarantees Iran's security but also leads to openings in economic and strategic fields by shaping a new order in the region and the world."

Strategic Error and the Necessity of Balance in Approach

Ghalibaf also referred to two strategic errors in the intellectual and political atmosphere of the country. He said: "First, there is a perspective that speaks of war but has no vision or mechanism for a decisive end to it. This perspective, without calculating the possibilities, leads the country towards erosion and endless war." He added: "On the opposite side, there is a current that underestimates national capabilities and perceives Iran as weak. This perspective, through instilling fear, prescribes surrender and acceptance of the enemy's unilateral conditions."

Ghalibaf emphasized: "We believe that the dichotomy of war or negotiation is not real; rather, we must both fight and negotiate. We must fight reasonably and symmetrically and negotiate with authority and rationality at the right time." He noted that when necessary, we must push back the enemy with all military might and, when a battlefield victory is achieved, use diplomatic tools to solidify these gains.

At the end, the Speaker referred to the current situation of the United States in the region and said: "Today, the old American order in West Asia has collapsed, and it is the Islamic countries of the region that must implement a new order. We will demonstrate, relying on the historical will of the nation, that the path to the future will not be shaped by begging, but by rationality, courage, and struggle."
