Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, in today's session on Tuesday (September 29), in his pre-speech at the Islamic Consultative Assembly, referred to the current days coinciding with the anniversary of the breaking of the siege of Abadan during the eight sacred years, stating: If the siege of Abadan was broken as the great leader of the revolution commanded, it was the result of a carefully designed operational plan and the bravery and self-sacrifice of the commanders and fighters in the Operation Thamen al-Aimah (peace be upon him).

Reminder of the History of Resistance

He added: At that time, the Ba'athist enemy had cut off the roads of Ahvaz and Mahshahr and had placed Abadan under a severe siege by constructing communication bridges over the Karun River. The Abadan refinery, as the heart of the country's energy and the largest refinery in West Asia, was rendered inoperable under direct artillery fire, oil pipelines were cut off, and the city's water and electricity networks were almost destroyed. Saddam wanted to force the people of Abadan into submission by imposing famine and a crisis of shortages, but the resilience and health of the resistant people of Abadan, alongside the fighting and bravery of the Islamic warriors, thwarted this conspiracy.

Decisive Response to America's Threats

The Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly stated that the one-year siege was broken within 48 hours and emphasized: I remind the young generation of Iran that today's American efforts to impose a maritime blockade, close air corridors, and exert maximum pressure on the country's trade arteries will also fail with serious planning and management in economic areas and military responses similar to those of 1980.

Ghalibaf stressed: A nation with such a brilliant and deep-rooted history should never be intimidated by siege and threats. If the American enemy's calculation apparatus does not understand this fundamental truth, it will continue to be caught in the cycle of receiving heavy blows from the Iranian nation. Of course, the reckless positions of the American President at the United Nations General Assembly and the audacity towards the great and civilization-building nation of Iran showed that they have not yet changed their behavior, and in response to such audacity, our answer remains the same clear words of the past: 'We will turn as long as we turn.'

He concluded by adding: The American President recently made remarks about the Strait of Hormuz and the passage of ships through this strait, which is a repetition of his previous claims. Both America and other countries should know that as we have said, in a region where we do not sell oil, no one will sell oil, and if our security is not ensured, no infrastructure will be safe.
