Mohammad Akhoundi, head of the Budget and Planning Commission of the Islamic City Council of Tehran, pointed out the importance of targeting public transport subsidies in the capital during a press conference, stating that this is particularly essential for those who perform their duties well and are financially constrained.
Free Metro and Bus Plan
Akhoundi announced that the plan to provide free metro and bus services is intended for those who timely fulfill their duties for the city and are financially struggling. He added: "This plan can help increase citizen participation in urban affairs and improve the quality of public transport services."

Challenges and Necessities
The head of the Budget and Planning Commission of the Islamic City Council of Tehran also referred to the existing challenges in the public transport system, saying: "Many citizens refrain from using these services due to high public transport costs. Akhoundi further clarified that the main objective of this plan is to enhance urban living quality and facilitate access to public services for all residents of Tehran. He emphasized that this plan is particularly important for vulnerable segments of society and can help reduce inequalities in access to public services.
Finally, Mohammad Akhoundi noted that targeting subsidies not only helps improve the quality of public transport services but can also lead to increased citizen satisfaction with urban services.
