Masoud Pezeshkian, at the ceremony marking the beginning of the new agricultural year held at the Seed and Seedling Research Center in Karaj, emphasized the importance of increasing productivity and quality in agriculture. He addressed managers, entrepreneurs, and farmers, saying: “You can place the country at its peak and dignity through your performance, and you can also cause problems for the people.”

The Necessity of a Realistic View of Capacities

Pezeshkian deemed the possession of knowledge and experience essential for the development and increase of productivity in agriculture and urged farmers to benefit from the knowledge of university professors and students. He also advised agricultural managers to have a realistic view of their position and to examine the existing capacities in the fields of water, soil, and seeds.

The President, citing verses from the Quran, regarded gaining insight in various dimensions as one of the achievements of utilizing knowledge and global experiences, stating: “By gaining insight into what happens in our surrounding world, we can improve laws and conditions.” He emphasized that science and experience must be combined to avoid backwardness.

The Role of Farmers in Sustainable Development

Pezeshkian advised agricultural managers and entrepreneurs to benefit from modern methods and to have a clear vision for enhancing productivity and increasing the quality of agricultural products. He said: “It is enough to change our perspective on surrounding phenomena. What has been proven is that all humans are genetically the same.”

The President also referred to the role of influential individuals and role models in society, adding: “If these individuals ascend to the peak, they will lead the entire community toward success and dignity. The choice of whether to be an assembler in technology or to own processes in biotechnology and nanotechnology is up to us.” He emphasized the necessity of principled and intelligent management over the agricultural product supply chain, stating: “If intelligent management and fundamental oversight are conducted over the agricultural product production cycle, then no goods will be lost.”

Pezeshkian concluded by emphasizing that to confront the bullying and tyranny of enemies, we should not find ourselves in a position of weakness and deemed scientific and technological advancement essential. He said: “To express some slogans and grand statements, it is necessary to be scientifically and technologically superior. This advancement and superiority will not come for free; we must strive for it.”
