Masoud Pezeshkian, the President of Iran, on Friday, October 9, at the summit of the Commonwealth of Independent States in Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan, outlined Tehran's official positions regarding diplomacy and regional crises. He stressed the importance of diplomatic dialogues, stating that these dialogues must be based on mutual respect and bilateral commitments.

The Necessity of Mutual Respect in Negotiation

Pezeshkian said in his speech: "The Islamic Republic of Iran has always emphasized dialogue and diplomatic solutions for establishing lasting peace and stability; however, dialogue only makes sense and has the potential for success when it is based on mutual respect, reciprocal commitments, and the abandonment of pressure and threats. Negotiation under duress is not negotiation; it is coercion and imposition."
