Maryam Ardebili, in her recent meeting, emphasized the role and position of women and girls in shaping the future of Tehran and Islamic Iran. She stated, "The role and share of women and girls in the future of the city and the country is an important and decisive issue." Paradigm Shift in the Women's and Family Affairs of Tehran Municipality
Ardebili, appreciating the support of the members of the Islamic Council and the Mayor of Tehran in advancing women's and family programs, referred to the paradigm shift and leap that has occurred in this area over the past five years. She stated that despite the progress, there are still numerous shortcomings and deficiencies, and a significant responsibility lies ahead of them.

She also addressed the necessity for city council members to pay attention to this area and thanked them for prioritizing and valuing it amidst their numerous commitments. Ardebili referred to the restructuring of the women's and family affairs department of Tehran Municipality and said, "It has been less than two years since the new structure of the Women and Family Center of Tehran Municipality was approved by the City Council."
Focus Areas of the Women and Family Center
Ardebili continued: "The first focus area of our activities is to increase the agency of women and girls in solving the issues of Tehran." She emphasized that through various models, plans, events, and infrastructures, they have tried to create an environment for the active participation of women and girls in addressing urban issues. Additionally, creating an ecosystem for the family to play a role in solving the capital's problems is another focus area of this center.
The head of the Women and Family Center of Tehran Municipality, referring to the general policies issued by the Supreme Leader, reported the existence of legal gaps for achieving a family-centered approach in governance. Ardebili mentioned the "Tehran Family" plan, which will be presented to the City Council of Tehran, and said, "The third focus area of this center is capacity building for women." She explained that this shift is instead of empowerment because women are not powerless; rather, the city is incapable of recognizing existing capacities.
Finally, Ardebili referred to the major projects of this organization and said, "So far, 404 model plans have been implemented in various regions and neighborhoods of Tehran." These plans are not limited to short-term and temporary activities, and local, community-based women's groups are formed that continue to operate for years.
