Mahdi Sadaqati, the CEO of the Engineering and Construction Organization of Tehran Municipality, announced the completion of this project within three weeks at the reopening ceremony of the overpass route of the Yadegar Imam Highway. With the implementation of this plan, the possibility of traffic from north to north at Jey Square will be provided, ending the traffic problems for citizens.
Project History and Existing Problems
Sadaqati referred to the closure of Jey Square for about the past two years due to the execution of the western branch of the Yadegar Imam Highway and said: "In the first phase, the route between Imam Khomeini Street and Shahid Dashtgheib Street was put into operation, and with the opening of the second phase, another part of the traffic routes in the square will be made available to citizens." He added: "The closure of Jey Square forced drivers to use alternative routes, which increased travel distance and imposed additional routes on citizens. We have tried to expedite this part of the project so that at the beginning of the school year, some of the commuting problems of the people can be alleviated."
