Ismail Baqai, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, explained Iran's positions regarding the ongoing conflicts between Saudi Arabia and Yemen in an interview with reporters. He stressed the importance of dialogue between the parties and the necessity of resolving issues through diplomacy, announcing that Iran has always expressed its readiness to help end these conflicts.

The Necessity of Dialogue and Diplomacy

Baqai stated in this interview: "The Islamic Republic of Iran has always been ready to employ its good offices to help end the conflicts and is still prepared to utilize all its capacities for this purpose if requested by the parties." Referring to the history of the conflicts between Saudi Arabia and Yemen, he noted: "The developments of the past 12 years have shown that foreign intervention, military approaches, and blockades are not the solution to Yemen's problems."

The spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, referring to the resilience of the Yemeni people against maritime and aerial blockades, said: "The people of Yemen have been enduring the consequences of this unjust blockade with remarkable patience for over a decade. It is expected that the countries of the region and the Islamic world will strive to end this situation."

Rejection of Saudi Claims Regarding Iran's Role

Continuing, Baqai responded to the claim of a Saudi Foreign Ministry official regarding Iran's role in encouraging Yemenis to attack Saudi Arabia, stating: "The Islamic Republic of Iran rejects any claims regarding Iran's role in the operations of the Yemenis." He emphasized that resolving the Yemen issue requires respect for the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of this country and the cessation of any interference in its internal affairs.

Baqai added: "The armed forces of Yemen act based on their own interests and assessments, and such claims are not credible to those familiar with Iran's relations with its friends." He also stressed that Iran does not see the escalation of tensions as beneficial to any party and emphasized the need to work towards establishing peace in this region.

It seems that Iran's positions on this matter, especially in the current circumstances where the conflicts continue, could serve as a facilitating factor in peace negotiations and ending the Yemen crisis. In a situation where the people of Yemen have been struggling with the consequences of war and blockade for years, hope for diplomacy and constructive dialogues can be a light at the end of the tunnel.
