Ismail Baqaei, spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, examined recent developments in regional relations and Iran's security in his weekly meeting with reporters. In response to questions about the threats from the Zionist regime and the possibility of a preemptive action by Iran, he stated: "I don't think there will be an election there. It's like the movie Dr. Strangelove, a competition between different gangs to commit more evil."
Emphasis on Monitoring Developments and Readiness of the Armed Forces
Baqaei pointed out that the Zionist regime is skilled in false flag operations, saying: "We are carefully monitoring developments, and our powerful armed forces will not have the slightest doubt in defending Iran's borders." He also referred to Iran's war readiness and emphasized that the country will not hesitate in exercising its right to self-defense.
Security Meetings with Regional Officials
Furthermore, the spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry referred to meetings taking place today in Tehran with senior officials from Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan. According to him, this meeting could be a precursor to the formation of endogenous security and lead to greater cooperation among regional countries. Baqaei added: "This is the first session, and it is natural to decide on the agenda and topics of the meeting, but it will likely address the most important issues threatening regional security."
He also mentioned the consequences of the military aggression by the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran and its impact on regional security, stating: "This topic will be one of the most important issues of the meeting."
Iran's Position on Foreign Interventions
The spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry continued by addressing U.S. interventions in the internal affairs of Cuba and other countries, describing it as a return to classic colonialism. He emphasized the necessity of solidarity with Cuba, pointing out the seven-decade U.S. sanctions against the country, and said: "The people of Cuba only want to maintain their independence, and that is something the Americans do not want."
Baqaei expressed doubt in response to a question about the European Troika's change in approach towards Iran and its readiness to engage in dialogue, suggesting it might merely be a political gesture. He emphasized that Europe should evaluate its two-year track record and look at regional developments more realistically.
Finally, Baqaei referred to the visit of a Qatari delegation to Tehran, stating that the purpose of this visit is to discuss with regional countries and the role that Qatar plays as a mediator in negotiations between Iran and the United States.
