Ismail Baqaei, spokesperson for Iran's diplomatic apparatus, addressed recent developments in the European Troika's policies and the status of the Iran-Iraq borders during his weekly meeting with reporters on Tuesday (October 25). He noted that the change in the European countries' approach towards Iran might only be seen as a political gesture and may not lead to any significant practical changes.

Analysis of the Change in the European Troika's Approach

The European Troika consists of three countries: France, Germany, and the United Kingdom, which have played a significant role in nuclear negotiations with Iran in recent years. Baqaei pointed out in this meeting that the recent statements by some European officials regarding readiness to engage in dialogue with Iran might be more due to international pressures rather than a real change in their policies. He told reporters: "We must be cautious about such changes and not interpret them as a genuine effort to resolve issues."

Status of Iran-Iraq Borders

Continuing in this meeting, Ismail Baqaei examined the status of the Iran-Iraq borders. He emphasized the importance of maintaining friendly relations and bilateral cooperation while referring to some claims made by Iraqi officials about Iran. Baqaei stated: "Iran has always sought security and stability in the region and is ready to cooperate with its neighboring country to ensure border security. We expect regional countries to pay special attention to this issue."

The spokesperson for Iran's diplomatic apparatus also referred to the increase in terrorist activities at the borders and noted that Iran will never allow its national security to be compromised. He told reporters: "We are always monitoring and controlling suspicious movements at the borders and will take any threats seriously."

Given the recent developments in the region and the change in the European Troika's approach, it is expected that Iran will effectively play its role as a key player in establishing stability and security in the region. Baqaei concluded his meeting by emphasizing: "We believe in diplomacy as a tool for resolving tensions and are ready to cooperate with all parties in line with national and regional interests."
