The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran announced that if tensions escalate from the United States, it will change the geography of war. This warning was made after Donald Trump, the former President of the United States, issued new threats against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Trump's Threats and the IRGC's Response

In an interview with Fox News on Sunday, Trump stated that "big things are happening soon" and the options he is considering include "destroying Iran, letting them go economically, or signing an agreement." Following these remarks, Hossein Mohebati, the spokesperson for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, warned that if the U.S. carries out new attacks against Iran, Tehran will use "new weapons with different capabilities" in battle. Mohebati said: "If a new aggression occurs, we will definitely change the weapons and the geography of war."

Current Situation and Regional Tensions

These statements come as the United States and Iran are at an impasse over the Strait of Hormuz, and tensions have escalated following Houthi attacks on the Saudi capital, Riyadh. The Houthis, who operate independently of Iran, have seized an area along the Red Sea coast, including near the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait, which is a vital shipping route. Saudi Arabia has used this route as an alternative for its oil exports.

The Houthis have also attacked oil facilities and other infrastructure in Saudi Arabia, which were retaliatory strikes against Saudi airstrikes on Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen. This situation has further disrupted energy markets and increased global fuel prices.

Iran is benefiting significantly from the Houthi war with Saudi Arabia, as the Saudis may exert more pressure on the United States to soften its stance on Iran. Iran strongly emphasizes that it will not allow the Strait of Hormuz to reopen until all its conditions are met.

With diplomatic negotiations stalled, traffic in the strait has been severely disrupted, and Iran has fired on commercial vessels, demanding confirmation of passage through its authorized routes. Meanwhile, the United States, which has been waging a war against Iran alongside Israel since February, is maintaining a reciprocal blockade of Iranian ports and increasing economic pressures. The U.S. has also fired on commercial vessels in the region and has harmed Iranian citizens in its attacks.
