Ahmad Vahidi, Iran's Interior Minister, has begun his trip to the Republic of Azerbaijan with the aim of reviewing and pursuing important security and border traffic issues. This trip, aimed at strengthening relations between the two countries and addressing common challenges, particularly focuses on issues such as organized crime, migration, and drug trafficking.

Objectives of the Interior Minister's Visit to Baku

The Interior Minister of Iran is seeking to create more cooperation with the Republic of Azerbaijan in the fields of security and law enforcement during this visit. He emphasized the importance of dialogue and collaboration in combating organized crime and drug trafficking, noting the common challenges faced by both countries. This visit comes at a time when security issues in the region have gained greater significance, highlighting the need for closer cooperation among neighbors.

Security and Border Challenges

Security challenges at the borders of Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan, particularly regarding border traffic and immigration control, are among the issues on the Interior Minister's agenda. Vahidi stated that border security is a fundamental priority and highlighted the importance of establishing joint mechanisms for better border management. In his view, cooperation in this area could help reduce crime and insecurity in the region.

The Interior Minister also stressed the need to address illegal immigration, stating: "We must work together to create effective solutions for controlling this type of immigration." This issue is particularly significant, especially as many countries in the region face challenges arising from illegal immigration.

Vahidi further emphasized the necessity of regional cooperation in the fight against drug trafficking, reminding that the Islamic Republic of Iran, as one of the countries facing the drug trafficking dilemma, requires more collaboration with its neighbors. He said: "The fight against drugs is not only a national duty but also requires international and regional cooperation."

In this context, the Interior Minister referred to holding joint meetings with Azerbaijani officials and expressed hope that the results of this visit would strengthen the relations between the two countries and create more opportunities for cooperation.
