Iranian airlines continue to operate flights to destinations in China, Thailand, Turkey, and other countries in the region. This comes as hours after the implementation of a new sanctions package by the U.S. Treasury Department, data from international aviation systems indicates that flights to international destinations such as Bangkok and Phuket in Thailand and Shanghai in China are still active.
Active Destinations for Iranian Flights
According to information from the "FlightRadar24" system, multiple flights are scheduled from Imam Khomeini International Airport in Tehran to destinations such as Ankara and Istanbul in Turkey, Baghdad and Sulaymaniyah in Iraq, Muscat in Oman, Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, Tbilisi in Georgia, and Yerevan in Armenia. All incoming and outgoing flights from this airport are exclusively operated by Iranian companies such as ATA Airlines, Caspian Airlines, and Iran Air.

Response to U.S. Sanctions
This development occurs as Scott P. Amey, the U.S. Treasury Secretary, emphasized that from Wednesday, the process of the "complete grounding" of Iranian airlines would begin. He warned that any company providing navigation or airport services to Iranian aircraft would be removed from access to the dollar-based financial system. In response, Mohsen Rezai, Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, warned neighboring countries about the dangers that may arise from cooperating with U.S. sanctions.
The new sanctions began on September 8, and in this context, 36 targets related to Iran's aviation industry were placed on the blacklist. However, analyses indicate that the continuation of flights depends on the reciprocal approach of countries. For instance, the Airports of Thailand company announced that it cannot prevent Iranian flights from landing without receiving government directives.
In any case, despite the challenges posed, flights of Iranian airlines to destinations continue, with China playing a special role as one of the strategic markets. Staff at Mahan Air's office in Shanghai have stated that they have not received any notice regarding the cancellation of flights, and ticket sales for the upcoming weeks continue.
