Indonesia; The Capital of Smokers in the World!

توسط تحریریهٔ خبرگزاری ایرانیان 2 دقیقه زمان مطالعه 2

Indonesia is recognized as the capital of smokers in the world, and this title is not only due to the high statistics of tobacco consumption in this country but also reflects the serious social and health challenges that this habit brings. While about 20 to 22 percent of Iranian men and 4.5 to 5 percent of women in our country consume tobacco, these statistics are significantly higher in Indonesia.

Health Challenges from Tobacco Consumption

Tobacco consumption not only affects individuals' health but has also become one of the major social issues. In Indonesia, the high number of smokers, especially among men, exacerbates health and economic crises. Despite public awareness of the dangers of smoking, this country is still recognized as one of the largest tobacco markets in the world.

In Iran, despite efforts made to reduce tobacco consumption, a significant percentage of the population continues this harmful habit. These concerns, especially among the youth, are alarming and require more attention. Many experts believe that more educational and preventive programs should be implemented to reduce tobacco consumption in society.

The Role of Culture and Advertising

Tobacco advertising and the related cultural influences also play a significant role in increasing cigarette consumption. In many countries, especially in Indonesia, extensive advertising and easy access to tobacco products lead young people towards smoking. In Iran, although there are restrictive laws on advertising, signs of cultural influences in society are still observed.

In summary, Indonesia, as the capital of smokers in the world, not only faces health challenges but we must also consider that a similar situation exists in Iran. To combat this issue, there is a need for precise planning and public cooperation.
