The increase in voucher credit for households covered by the Imam Khomeini Relief Foundation and the Welfare Organization was announced on Saturday, October 10, 2026. Yaqoob Andayesh, Deputy for Welfare and Economic Affairs of the Ministry of Cooperatives, Labor, and Social Welfare, reported the deposit of an additional 500,000 tomans for about 11 million of these households. This credit will be deposited into the accounts of household heads, separate from the one million tomans of voucher credit for the October phase.

Uncertainty in Timing and Amount of Credit Increase for Other Households

While the voucher credit for October for eligible recipients has been charged unchanged at one million tomans per person, the timing of the credit increase for other eligible households and the final amount remains unclear. Government officials had previously announced the implementation of this increase in the second half of the year, but with the start of the October phase, the credit for the first group of recipients was deposited unchanged at one million tomans.

Yaqoob Andayesh further explained that the government's economic team has not yet reached an agreement on the final amount of the credit increase and the exact number of eligible recipients. Securing sustainable resources is one of the main challenges in implementing the plan, and this credit increase will only be possible after the precise amount of resources is approved and communicated by the Organization of Planning and Budget.

Status of Deposited Amounts and Concerns

Mortaza Zamaniyan, Deputy Minister of Economy, explained on October 8, 2026, about the latest government decisions regarding the increase in voucher credit, stating that the principle of increasing credit and determining target groups has been reviewed and decided upon by the government and the economic commission. However, the implementation of the plan has been entrusted to the Ministry of Cooperatives, Labor, and Social Welfare.

This comes as reports have emerged in recent days regarding changes in the credit of some accounts and deposits of amounts labeled as an increase in voucher credit. Some recipients have reported deposits into their accounts that have been usable in some cases, and purchases have been made from the credit of certain accounts. This situation has raised concerns among households.

As the costs of household living baskets have increased and wage growth has not kept pace with rising costs in many cases, determining the fate of this plan for a broader segment of society has become more critical. Therefore, the main question is when other eligible households will benefit from the increase in voucher credit and what the final amount of this increase will be.

Statements from officials indicate that the implementation of the voucher credit increase plan depends on securing financial resources and completing the process of identifying eligible recipients. Thus, the announcement of the increase in credit for households covered by the Imam Khomeini Relief Foundation and the Welfare Organization cannot be interpreted as the beginning of a nationwide implementation of this increase for all eligible households.

Thus, the plan to increase voucher credit, which was supposed to be implemented in the second half of the year, has so far passed the review stage in the government and the transfer of implementation responsibility to the relevant agencies, and the increase in credit for some households has been announced; however, the final amount of the increase and the timing of its implementation for other recipients are still awaiting the determination of financial resources and government executive decisions.
