Alireza Zakani, the Mayor of Tehran, announced this morning at the inauguration ceremony of the access bridge from Sattar Khan Street to Shahid Chamran Highway located at Tohid Square, the beginning of a new phase of construction projects in the capital. This bridge was inaugurated as part of the 231st Hope and Pride campaign of the Tehran Municipality, and according to Zakani, 70 other construction projects have also been completed during the sixth term of urban management.
Solving Traffic Problems with New Projects
Mahdi Sadaqati, the CEO of the Engineering and Construction Organization of Tehran Municipality, emphasized at the ceremony that the main goal of these projects is to resolve traffic bottlenecks in the capital. He said: "In this term of urban management, in addition to large-scale projects, small and localized plans have also been prioritized. Each of these projects plays a significant role in facilitating traffic flow in various parts of the city."

Sadaqati also referred to the positive impact of the inauguration of Sepah Square on the traffic situation in eastern Tehran and said: "This project has been able to improve traffic flow in the areas of Khajeh Nasir Street, Ayatollah Taleghani Street, and Shariati Street. We hope that the project connecting Sattar Khan Street to Shahid Chamran Highway will have a similar impact in reducing traffic problems in this area."
Challenges in Implementing Urban Projects
The CEO of the Engineering and Construction Organization of Tehran Municipality also pointed out the challenges in executing construction projects at busy urban intersections and said: "The Sattar Khan project does not add a new construction technology to the country's engineering, but the important point is its implementation in high-traffic conditions and passing through Shahid Chamran Highway and Sattar Khan Street without causing widespread disruption to citizens' movement. In this regard, the cooperation of traffic police and the efforts of contractors and executive staff have played a crucial role."
Sadaqati also reported on the progress of the southern branch of Imam Khomeini Highway and said: "With the actions taken in the area of land acquisition, the amount of land needed for this project has decreased, making it easier to implement operationally."
He also outlined the urban management plans to alleviate traffic bottlenecks on Ayatollah Saidi Highway and said: "Following the reopening of the north-to-west axis of Imam Khomeini Highway, two intersections of this highway with Shamsiri Street and 45-meter Zarand Street are also on the agenda to eliminate traffic lights in these areas, which will help alleviate some of the traffic issues on Ayatollah Saidi Highway."
Finally, Sadaqati announced the readiness of the Shahid Sepahbod Abdolrahim Mousavi Highway project for inauguration and expressed hope that this project would be inaugurated this week or next week. He also emphasized the importance of coordination and continuous efforts among various entities for the execution of construction projects in busy urban areas.
The urban management of Tehran has planned to deliver 10 more construction projects to citizens by the end of the year, which demonstrates the serious determination of officials to improve the city's infrastructure and resolve traffic issues.
